Self care is a key ingredient to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself as it produces positive feelings, relaxes your state and boosts your confidence. Self care is necessary to remind yourself that your needs as an individual matter and are important. Self- care ensures that you stay sharp mentally, motivated, positive and healthy.

Self care is definitely becoming a buzzword of society and it’s with good reason. I personally am so glad it’s something that everyone is becoming more conscious of. One of the reasons many of us become Beauty or Spa Therapists is because we want to help others with their own personal self care. It’s rewarding for us to be able to see the emotional and physical changes time out for relaxation can create. 

With life being so ‘on’ and ‘go, go, go’ all the time, it’s no wonder we are feeling more stressed, more anxious, more busy and more neglected than ever. So many of us wear many hats every day. From parenting, to working, to friendships and relationships, there’s usually always somewhere to be or do. Unless we create space. 

And as the old saying goes, you can’t pour from an empty cup!! Taking time out for self care is not selfish, it’s selfless. It’s done to help us ensure we are functioning at our best. Self care also doesn’t need to be over complicated. It can be simple things repeated on a daily basis or it can be a weekly or monthly ritual we create. 

Some of our favourite ways to enjoy some self care are: 

  • A beautiful soak in a warm bath. Add a favourite or mood enhancing bath soak such as our Pure Fiji Coconut Lime Bath Soak. Pop some candles on (safely) and grab a book for some extra relaxation
  • Grab your favourite cup of tea and sip away in your favourite spot outside in nature. Take in the environment around you, particularly if you have birds singing or the ocean near by. 
  • Wake up an hour earlier than everyone else, meditate and practice a simple yoga or stretching session. 
  • Enjoy a weekly or monthly massage/facial/spa visit. This is definitely our favourite 😉 but there’s definite positives to enjoying a treatment regularly for both your mind and body. 
  • Journal your thoughts. Go for a walk and sit down and journal about how you are feeling right then and there. Remind yourself what you are grateful for and pop all your current feelings down on paper. It feels good to get them out 

Whatever makes you feel good and you enjoy doing is what self care is all about. It doesn’t need to be complicated, but it should be prioritised. Make sure you even mark out some time in your diary for self care, you won’t regret it.

Valentine’s Day is almost here! Now I know not everyone celebrates Valentine’s Day, but even if you don’t have a special someone to celebrate with, use it as a day to celebrate yourself and being alive. 

For those of you who are looking for a few ways to share this day with a loved one, I thought I would share some of my favourite things to do in Parramatta (or things I’d love to try). 

  • Sunrise walk and picnic for breakfast (add location locally to do this) 
  • Brunch at (insert cute cafe here) 
  • Couple’s Massage at Face Body Day Spa with Lunch included
  • Dinner at (insert Restaurant)
  • Staycation at (insert hotel)

So many of our clients are really scared or nervous about body services. It really is the ultimate in self care! So what actually IS a Body treatment? A body treatment is a combination of body exfoliation, steam therapy, body massage and a body treatment mask. We have a few variations of body treatments and wraps, however today we will focus on the 2.5 hour version which we feel is most beneficial and enjoyable for our guests.

A refreshing herbal steam is the perfect pick me up and can be added to any of our body treatments. It’s something you don’t often get to experience, and it allows your skin to be gently prepared for soaking up all the goodness from the next stages of your treatment.

Smooth and soften your skin to perfection with an all over body exfoliation. Customised to your mood, choose your personalised aroma’s and exfoliants. Body exfoliation not only removes dead skin build up from the body, it also stimulates the blood flow and in turn, helps with lymphatic drainage to remove toxins from the body. Your skin is left feeling soft and supple.

Treatment mask time! Drench your skin in our heavenly hydrating body wrap, tone in a detoxifying treatment mask or rejuvenate for the softest skin you’ve ever had. A deluxe mask is created for you and lathered on to your arms, legs, back and tummy. And all while your mask is being soaked up by your skin, we indulge you with our incredible Indian Head Massage. After Winter our skin can feel a little under the weather. The sudden change in the environment, can be hard for our cells to adjust to. As the season begins to warm up, our skin can start to process additional oil and turn over it’s cells more quickly. For this reason, we find it’s the perfect time to invest in a facial.

Having a facial done, allows your skin to be flooded with nutrients, clear away any build up on the skin and allow the new cells to flourish.

This spring, we have custom designed our Spring Glow Facial to give your skin everything it needs to prepare itself for the warmer months. We begin your treatment with a beautiful and relaxing back exfoliation and massage, because we all know it’s one of those places, we just can’t reach ourselves!!

Once your feeling revitalised on your back, we turn you over to start your beautiful facial. Using a customised cleanser to suit your skin type, we will gently double cleanse your skin. Next we will boost your skin with our Mceutic treatment. A true beauty treatment inspired by the medical world, it delivers a tailor-made treatment in three sequences – a renovating peel, bio-regenerative infusion and corrective intervention – to restore youthful, plump and radiant skin quality, while respecting the skin’s physiology. Your skin will be left soft, supple and ready for Spring.

Spring is also a great time of year to re-evaluate your skincare at home. Often a heavier moisturiser is needed during the cooler months, however it’s always nice to give your skin a change and look at moving to a lightweight day cream and keep your heavier cream for night time, while you sleep. Adding in a Vitamin B or C Serum can also help fight against free radicals and keep the skin clear and bright during the warmer months.

Check your SPF is still within its expiry date, as this is really important to ensure you’re going to receive maximum protection from the sun during the warmer months. The other key ingredient to your skin during spring is hydration from within, so aim to drink 3 litres of water a day to ensure your hydration levels are where they should be.

How Often Should You Get A Professional Facial?

Cost and time aside, we recommend to have a facial at least every 4 weeks to maintain and keep your skin in the best condition. After having a Facial when you are at home it is very important to take care of your skin by cleansing & Moisturising on daily basis in between your facials. Your beauty therapist will recommend suitable products for your skin type and condition based on your needs.

By doing regular facials you will starting to see and feel the difference in your skin. 
 
Why every 4 weeks? we recommend to have a facial because our skin cell turnover cycle is 28 days long. So getting a professional facial is very important to help the production of collagen & Elasticity in your skin. You also need to remember to use sun protection on your face to protect your skin. 
 
Facials can also help in clearing clogged pores and remove dead skin cell. A facial is essentially multi-step skin treatment that is one of the best ways to take care of your skin. A Facial cleanser, exfoliates, and nourish the skin, promoting a clear, well-hydrated complexion and it can help your skin look younger. A Facial is most popular spa treatment after a massage.
 
It is also very important to keep that in mind that using a profession skin care at home will help to achieve the best results faster, the reason behind it after having 1 hour facial in day spa your skin feels most hydrated, clean and able to breath so imagine by using good skin care at home every day will enhance your results that will last for longer time of period.
 
We use makeup everyday to hide all the discolouration and uneven skin tone and even to look and feel better, instead of hiding it behind the makeup its better to look after your skin so its in the best condition. Always clean your face with cleanser and then use a prescribed moisturiser followed by your primer and then foundation. It sounds too much of work but believe me using foundation directly on your face is the worse thing you can do face your face because foundation is there to cover the impurities not to fix them and shouldn’t absorb in your skin. By using primer under your moistures will help to create the barrier between your skin and foundation so it will not clogged your pores and stays where it should instead of going into the skin.
 
Having a regular facials will help not only deeply cleansing your skin but also help to penetrate all the products into deeper level of your skin so you will get fast results that last longer. My favourite facial is Deep Cleansing & Microhydrabrasion that cleanse your skin very deeply so it can breath.

Skin and Body Care Tips

Winter is here which means it’s that time of year where we really need to nourish and care for our skin. With shorter days and less Vitamin D from the sun, it’s crucial we look at supporting our skin both internally and externally.

Winter often brings dry, flakey and sometimes itchy skin, but that doesn’t mean you have to suffer. Some of the best things you can do to support your skin in Winter is:

  • Dry body brushing before you shower to stimulate the lymphatic system and get the blood flowing.
  • Make sure your shower water is warm and not too hot. Hot water although it can feel really nice, can also have a damaging effect on the skin over time.
  • Keep your skin on your face and body moisturised. The best time to apply your moisturiser is straight after you shower. This will allow the skin to soak up the moisture and make it easier for you to apply. Also look at keeping a small tube of moisturiser in your handbag for those crisp and windy days, so you can reapply to your face, lips and even hands during Winter.
  • Stay hydrated! Drink as much H2O as possible. Ensuring you are drinking appropriately 2ltrs of filtered clean water each day, will help keep your skin hydrated from Winter.
  • Nourish your skin from within. Add a skin boosting collagen or greens/reds powder to your diet to allow your skin to be boosted with antioxidants from within. A healthy gut is vital for glowing skin.
  • Create time each week for an at home facial routine. Cleanse, exfoliate and apply a hydrating mask to keep your skin in a healthy condition. I personally love using a cream based hydration mask which I can apply and wear overnight while I sleep to give my skin an extra boost! Also don’t forget to treat your eyes and lips. The skin is more delicate in those areas so it’s important to ensure you’re taking extra care of them as well

We love Hot Stone Massage, especially in the cooler months. It’s not only a great way to relax and revive sore muscles, but there’s also some amazing therapeutic effects from the treatment.

Hot Stone Massage provides a very healing and effective experience. The hot stones expand blood vessels, which increases blood flow throughout the body allowing muscles to be flooded with nutrients. The hot stones can have a sedative effect that can help to relieve chronic pain, reduce stress and promote deep relaxation.
